While parenting is a very fulfilling journey, raising a child (or children!) has got to be the most challenging job in the world. Sometimes it feels good to meet with like – minded moms (and dads too) to share experiences and lessons that will help make parenting just a little bit easier.
About the Workshop
“Yes Mommy: How to talk so your child will listen and understand” is the first in a series of parenting workshops from Optimommy. In this one day affair, we will discuss tips and tools to help us talk with our children persuasively and lovingly. These come in handy especially during those tough times when simple interactions become uphill battles including (but not limited to!) taking a bath, brushing teeth, sleeping on time or fighting with siblings.
This is for parents who want to build a foundation of good communication with their young children. We will talk about:
- Self Talk for Mommies: Why positive communication begins with you
- How to understand your child’s personality
- How to adjust your communication style based on your child’s personality
- The Three Elements of Positive Communication: Crucial factors to encourage your children to listen and understand
- How to say “no” by saying “yes”
“Yes Mommy” is called a workshop. But I’d rather call it a sharing session where we can connect with other moms, we can feel safe to share what we know and don’t know, and we can have comfort knowing that we are not alone in this parenting journey.
About the Host
Hi, I’m Jayme Emerald Gatbonton and I am your host for the “Yes Mommy” workshop.
I have a loving husband, two girls aged five and four, and a passion for writing and learning. You can also read more about me and this blog here.
But here’s a short recap about me and my intention behind “Yes Mommy”.
Before I became a mom, I worked as a producer for one of the top television networks in the country for nine years.
After I had my girls, I decided to find another less stressful path that would allow me to do something I loved and to take care of my children.
I underwent certification in Neuro Linguistic Programming and went into corporate training. Simply put, it was about helping the company’s front liners to use the power of their mind and their words to get the results they want for their professional as well as personal life.
After my stint as a training facilitator, I rediscovered my love for teaching and entered the academe.
I am now a Mass Communications teacher at Far Eastern University. And the parenting blogger behind Optimommy.com.
Combining concepts I learned from NLP, communication concepts I teach at university and wisdom gained from personal growth books I’ve read over the years, I was moved to apply what I learned to parenting.
And while it has not made perfect children out of my girls, it has made being a parent to them just a little bit easier.
My intention for you
My intention for holding this workshop is to gather a community of moms who want to practice intentional parenting and to have a safe and open space where we can share and learn from each other’s experiences.
I cannot guarantee that this workshop will make perfect kids out of your children or a perfect mom out of you.
But I do intend that you’ll pick up information, encouragement and even inspiration that will make this lifetime commitment of mothering just a little bit easier for you too.
If this is something helpful for you, do join us and sign up through the form below.
I look forward to meeting you and learning from you.
