DETAILS: ART WORKSHOPS
- Love for Mandala
In this workshop, Lorena Balina, a Doodle artist will teach how to draw Mandalas from scratch. Mandalas can contain both geometric and organic forms. They can also contain recognizable images that carry meaning for the person who is creating it. In essence, mandalas represent the connection between our inner worlds and outer reality. Designing your own mandalas can be both inspirational and therapeutic.
You can design a mandala to symbolize a state of mind that you would like to achieve. Mandalas are great tools for meditation and increasing self-awareness.
Expressive Art Meditation is a powerful process of immersing in expressive art activities to help you cope with stress and discover more of yourself through genuine connection to your true self and others. This workshop creates a safe atmosphere of empathy, trust, and self-expression to heal, empower, and transform yourself for the better as you continue your life journey. It is a soothing fusion of guided meditation and free-flowing art making, collectively called the expressive arts. Here, we use “meditation” based on its original meaning, “a thinking over, a reflection” (from the Latin word, “meditatio”). The art making process gives you the freedom to express and release your inner thoughts and feelings. In the process, you are empowered to create transformative insights that you can incorporate in your everyday life.
To this day, Expressive Art Meditation helps a lot of people find healing, confidence to face everyday challenges, and empowerment to solve their life problems. It’s time to grab a quality time for yourself! As your body deserves a soothing massage after long days at work, you deserve to have a spa for your soul.
Our programs are products of our experiences as artists and church and community volunteers. Our passions make up our innovative processes that is deeply rooted in our identity as Filipino artists. We personally use art as a way to connect within our soul and to heal our emotional distresses. For a decade, we have been doing therapeutic art and play with children with cancer and chronic illness through Kythe Foundation. We witnessed how art alleviated the physical and emotional pain of the children and their families. Moreover, we conduct Kythe’s Healing Heart workshops to help volunteers cope from emotional stresses of volunteering. Being involved in church and in community services has naturally nurtured our empathy to the people we serve.

The practice has hundreds of thousands of unique styles, many of which are still kept secret by families, lineages and temples.
